Serengeti & Ngorongoro - The Wildebeest Migration

The Serengeti awaits. We travel deep into the heart of the most famous wildlife park in the world. As we reach the Seronera Valley, the landscape opens up into endless plains. This area is the "Big Cat Capital," where leopards rest on kopjes and lions stalk the high grasses. We enjoy our first classic Serengeti sunset before heading to our luxury tented camp.

Today we head toward the action. Depending on the season, Chipmunk Expeditions will lead you North, South, or West to find the heart of the migration. Witness the incredible sight of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra moving as one. From dramatic river crossings to the quiet birth of calves, we witness the cycle of life firsthand. We carry a picnic lunch to spend as much time as possible in the field.

After a final morning game drive across the plains, we depart the Serengeti. Along the way, we pass the Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakey family made groundbreaking archaeological discoveries. We climb into the high-altitude forests of the Ngorongoro highlands and reach our lodge on the crater rim in time for a spectacular panoramic sunset.

Our final game drive takes us back into the caldera floor. Early morning is the best time to spot rhinos and see predators on the move. After a thrilling morning in the crater, we ascend and begin our drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon for your onward travel.
