Welcome to the magic of the Spice Island. As you land at Karume International Airport, a friendly Chipmunk Expeditions representative will be waiting for you. We transfer you to your hotel in the heart of Stone Town. Spend your first afternoon wandering through the labyrinthine alleys of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, where every carved door tells a story of the island ancient spice trade. Enjoy a welcome dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean.

After a delicious Swahili breakfast, join your Chipmunk Expeditions specialist for a walking tour of Stone Town. We visit the historic House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the poignant former Slave Market. In the afternoon, we explore the bustling Darajani Market and sample local fruits. As the sun sets, walk to the Forodhani Gardens to experience the famous night food market.

Today, Chipmunk Expeditions takes you into the heart of the island nature. Visit Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, the only national park on Zanzibar and home to the endemic Red Colobus Monkey. Walk through the mystical mangrove boardwalks. Later, visit the Zanzibar Butterfly Center, a community-driven project promoting local conservation.

Zanzibar is the Spice Island, and today you will discover why. Your guide will lead you through a rural spice plantation where you can see, smell, and taste fresh cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. After a traditional spice lunch, we transfer you to the stunning beaches of Nungwi.
