Your Kilimanjaro adventure officially begins with a drive to the remote Lemosho Gate on the western slopes of the mountain. After registration, the trail ascends gently through lush montane rainforest teeming with life. Keep your eyes open for exotic birds and black-and-white colobus monkeys swinging in the canopy. The trail is peaceful and quiet—an ideal introduction to Kilimanjaro’s diverse ecosystems. You’ll arrive at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp in the late afternoon.
